Yesterday, four security guards who had been arrested for allegedly stealing the sum of N500,000 from a tithe box, were brought before a Magistrates’ Court in Tinubu, Lagos State.
According to PUNCH, the guards were employed to secure the Ascension Anglican Church in Eti-Osa, Lagos when they conspired to steal N500,000 from the church’s tithe box. Two of the guards were supposed to be on night duty while the other two secured the church during the day when they allegedly stole the tithe box sometime last month, at about 4am.
The accused pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy and stealing during their hearing yesterday and the magistrate, Mr. L. A. Owolabi, granted each of the accused N50,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The case has been adjourned till March 22.
