Actor Morris Chestnut reveals he is not the father of estranged son who called him ‘deadbeat’

Last month, a young man named Dante Chestnut took to social media to lash out at Hollywood actor Morris Chestnut, for being a deadbeat father and abandoning him all his life. Dante stated that after the actor became popular following his role in Spike Lee’s classic Boyz N the hood, Chestnut had abandoned him and his mother, went to Hollywood to start a new life and a new family.

Morris Chestnut had remained quiet since Dante’s outburst on social media until yesterday when he finally addressed the issue during an interview. According to the Best Man actor, he never abandoned Dante. He revealed that he never dated Dante’s mother and that the two only had a consensual friendship. He, however , admitted that they had sex and when she had told him she was pregnant; he had tried to take responsibility and make things work, but the relationship never worked out.

He stated that Dante wasn’t at fault for his actions towards him as his mother had brainwashed him with lies:

“I don’t fault him for saying what he’s saying. I feel that he’s been told lies all of his life by his mother. He says that I all of a sudden up and left and got another family after ‘Boyz In The Hood’ came out, but that’s not what happened. What happened was she [his mother] put the baby on me, I tried to step up and do the right thing, we were together for the wrong reasons, we tried to make it work [but we] were together, breaking up, together, breaking up. Then all of a sudden the movie comes out and this time when we broke up instead of it being a regular break up, I’m getting hit with a paternity suit.”

He then revealed that he had taken a paternity test and discovered he wasn’t Dante’s father.
