Drawing the line between a screenplay and a script is a good way to start learning how to write screenplay. A screenplay is a script, but a script is not necessarily a screenplay. There are different approaches adopted in writing a script for a stage play, radio drama, dance drama, and of course for movie. Because a screenplay is produced to be viewed on a screen, hence the name screenplay. If a director or the producer can’t know the number of characters, main character(s)’ age range, the time duration on screen among others at a glance, then what you wrote is not a screenplay but a mire script or story. A well formatted script – screenplay, ease the work of the director and help other crew members in no small way do their job perfectly. In a nut-shell, when you read a great screenplay, you see the movie in your mind and can’t wait to see it on the big screen. A screenplay is the blueprint, the bedrock of a great movie. When the foundation is week, a bored movie is unavoidable.
