The police authorities have had enough of reckless driving from drivers of the force’s patrol vehicles.
On Thursday, it announced that henceforth drivers of its patrol vehicles will pay for the repair of such vehicles, PM News is reporting.
The spokesperson of the Police Zone 2, Adebowale Lawal, disclosed in Lagos that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the zone, which comprise Ogun and Lagos States, Bala Hassan has directed that drivers should be compelled to pay for damaged vehicles.
He said the zone decided to take the step to in view of the rickety condition of such vehicles shortly after allocation for patrol duties.
“All erring drivers and patrol team leaders who are found to have wilfully and recklessly damaged vehicles will be sanctioned and made to pay for the damage to government property.
“If you destroy or damage any vehicle, you will be sanctioned and made to pay for it accordingly” Lawal said.
